Volvo ocean race

From the start in Alicante last October to the final destination in Gothenburg in June 2015, seven teams are competing in the Volvo Ocean Race, the greatest race around the world. They will be battling for victory under the most extreme conditions. The Volvo Ocean Race is an unprecedented adventure of ocean racing, a contest against time and the fury of Mother Nature.

In 1964, exactly fifty years ago, Bolidt started from the vision that synthetics offered many untapped possibilities. This basic principle has proved its worth since. Bolidt laid the foundation for a breakthrough, by replacing conventional materials like wood and metal with polymers. On bridges, in railroad construction and in shipbuilding. But also in commercial and industrial building, where flooring systems and roof car parks have been continuously innovated by Bolidt. Equally revolutionary is the combination of different disciplines. Whenever it is useful or required, Bolidt crosses disciplinary boundaries. For ultimately, it is the result that counts: no limits.

With this in mind Bolidt will participate in the world’s toughest offshore race as official partner of the Dutch Team Brunel. “The Volvo Ocean Race is the longest and toughest event in professional sport. The race showcases extraordinary stories of human accomplishment and adventure on an international level with all ingredients we at Bolidt value: teamwork, tactics, state of the art technology and constantly pushing boundaries. We are proud to be partner of Team Brunel; it’s a true no limits adventure which leads us to our key source markets all over the world such as the healthcare industry in the Middle East and the food industry in Asia.

During the stop-overs around the globe we will welcome new and existing valued relations to let them experience the ‘no limits’ possibilities of Bolidt. For instance, we will show them the future in a 360 Dome and by using the Oculus Rift, a virtual reality goggle. And of course we want to let the people see and feel the intensity of world’s premier ocean race”, says CEO and President of Bolidt Rientz W. Bol. In this edition

In this edition of the Volvo Ocean Race, the race will see the first appearance of a one-design boat class: the new Volvo Ocean 65, with measures over 20 meters in length. The new Volvo Ocean 65 incorporates a series of innovations that, combined, make a boat that is not only fast through the water, but is also cool looking and capable of withstanding the toughest conditions on the planet. With an endurance race lasting nine months in total, the teams will make eight more stop-overs, after just started leg 2 from Cape Town to Abu Dhabi. The teams will cover a total of almost 40,000 nautical miles, with extreme wind and weather conditions. Waves up to 30 meters in height and wind speeds reaching 120 kilometers per hour, the race is considered as life at the extreme.

Bouwe Bekking, skipper of Team Brunel was ambassador of the No Limits, Bolidt’s Swan 45. Gideon Messink, one of the founding fathers of Team Brunel is still one of the crew members of No Limits.
