The relationship between De Vries en Verburg and Bolidt has been thriving for years. We’re frequently contracted to lay floors in the projects of De Vries and Verburg. But, for the construction of our Innovation Center we reversed the roles. Asking De Vries en Verburg to take on the crucial role of contractor to help us realize our plans for the building.
Even with such an experienced contractor at our side, it was a challenge. Changing a design into a working drawing and then to actually construct it took real skill. In total the project required no less than 11,000 man-hours, 7 kilometers of piles, 1,400 m3 of concrete mortar and 525,000 kilograms of steel.
Technically speaking, keeping the structural parts stable during construction is the biggest challenge. This applied for to all our construction partners on our project. "Where all parts of the final project interconnect, we need temporary help and support structures to keep the building afloat." Explained Bernhard van Houwelingen, project manager at De Vries en Verburg Bouw.
