Because hygiene is crucial for a bakery, around the globe bakeries are placing higher demands on the floors. These higher demands were the topic of conversation during the IBA, the leading trade fair for bakeries, in Munich.
Bolidt, specialist in synthetic floors for, among others, bakeries, was also present with a stand during the IBA and has also noticed this trend. Bas Faaij, segment manager Bakeries at Bolidt: "The IBA really is an international meeting point for this sector. Our stand was visited by representatives of bakeries from around the world. We see that the standards in the realm of hygiene and food safety are rising globally. The demands on the bakery floor are also being raised. Because problems concerning hygiene can halt the production process which is a disaster for a bakery."
Hygiene is in the details and finishing. In seams, gaps, joins and pores, bacteria get the chance to settle and reproduce. A floor should therefore seamlessly connect to the wall with the correct plinth and/or bumper. The correct connection to gutters and drains is also crucial.
Besides this, floors in a bakery are intensively loaded and cleaned with high pressure sprays and chemical cleaning agents. The bakery floor must, in other words, be able to take quite a pounding.
To meet the hygiene requirements, Bolidt has developed the Bolidtop® 700 system. This floor system is seamless, pore-free and straightforward to clean.
