If you didn’t make it to the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) this year, we’re sorry to say you really missed out… but thankfully we didn’t!
Monaco is a fantastic destination steeped in the history of the superyacht community, so it’s only right that it should show off the future of our industry too. This year was no exception with attendees treated to the most extravagant superyachts and tempting glimpses into what comes next.
Thankfully, you can get a taste of some of the most showstopping moments below. No, don’t thank us! Just read on to find out what we loved and why YOU should join us next year.
The largest superyacht at the Monaco Yacht Show 2018 was the Kismet. At just over 95m, she is truly a sight to behold and a magnificent example of the luxury which only a superyacht can deliver.
Built in 2014 by Lürssen, Kismet features a cinema on the foredeck, a winter garden deck, spa, gym, beauty salon and even a private jacuzzi in the owner’s suite.
She is a true labour of love, featuring an interior by Reymond Langton Design and an exterior crafted by Espen Oeino.
Winner of the RINA award, which honours a superyacht whose construction complies with the environmental standards of RINA, Solo by Tankoa Yachts has sustainability woven into it’s very DNA.
This was further confirmed when she won the greenest vessel of the year at the Monaco Yacht Show awards ceremony.
Solo is a 72m packed with the best in ecologically sound technology.
She comes with three Northern Lights generators which are equipped with HUG soot burners to eliminate the usual black smoke stains on the sides of the hull and allow guests to enjoy the exterior spaces. She also has Eco Spray SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) on her main engines which significantly reducing emissions.
One of the most anticipated launches of 2018 and holding the honour of being the largest yacht built in Asia so far, the Illusion Plus took home the 2018 MYS Interior Design Award… and the hearts of many who saw her!
Made at Chinese yard, Pride Mega Yachts, Illusion Plus features an interior by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design and exterior by Rainsford Saunders Design. If this 88.5m vessel is a sign of things to come, then the Asian shipyards are ones to watch for the future of superyachts.
DAR by Oceanco brought home the distinguished 2018 MYS Finest New Superyacht Award and well deserved it is. This is the hotly contested climax of the evening and there was, as ever, some stiff competition for the award.
The award recognises every aspect of the winner. Her interior, exterior, functionality, features, performance and the technology within.
DAR is a 90m motor yacht with interiors created by Nuvolari Lenard and her stunning exterior by Miami-based Luiz de Basto. She includes a dive centre, hammam, sauna, beach club and submarine storage as well as a private helipad. DAR really is the pinnacle of luxury.
That’s our pick of the most innovative and inspiring designs from the Monaco Yacht Show 2018. We can’t wait to see what this year’s event inspired in the superyacht designers out there and we’re already excited to see what MYS19 will bring! See you there?
