    Wie zijn je nieuwe collega's?

What's new?!

LOADS OF NEW COLLEAGUES!

You will no doubt have noticed that quite a few new colleagues have joined us. Do you still remember all of their names and what they do? No? Not to worry. For this What’s New, we asked each of them a series of questions. And got some surprising answers! Including ones involving a Viennese Schnitzel and Coen’s chewing gum habits.

Pascal Waes

SHEQ manager

As soon as you talk to Pascal, you can tell that he is not from Hendrik Ido Ambacht. Born and raised in Belgium, he moved to the Netherlands with his wife and 3 children when he was 30. After having worked in the dredging industry for 15 years, Pascal was ready for a change.

A change that meant joining Bolidt as SHEQ Manager. A what manager?!?! Pascal explains it to you.

Bolidt Pascal Waes

Can you tell us about your day-to-day work?
The core responsibility of this role is to further implement and, where necessary, adjust the systems concerning quality, safety, environment and health in line with the standards (ed. ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 and VCA*(*)). I will also work on embedding compliance with all legal and permit requirements. As SHEQ Manager you have to work across all departments. This means that I will need all of you and having open lines of communication is of great importance. So if you have any questions, you are very welcome to drop by!

What was your first impression when you came to Bolidt?
During the job interview with R.W., it became clear to me right away that this man is full of ideas to put Bolidt more firmly on the map. And in the course of our conversation, I felt that I would love to work as SHEQ Manager for this dynamic company.

Bolidt is an energetic company. How energetic are you?
I regularly work up a sweat in the gym and after having actively coached and trained my son’s football team and other teams over a period of 8 years, I now passively watch the games that both of my boys play from the side lines.

Is there anything else that your colleagues should know about you?
I am quite sociable and always up for a good conversation.

Cedric Passial

APPLICATION SPECIALIST

Cedric recently joined our Application . In parallel to his daily work for Application, Cedric will regularly spend time in the AMCO shed on the Bolidt Campus to learn the tricks of the trade. At Bolidt, a whole new world is opening up for Cedric!

Were you familiar with Bolidt before you started working for Bolidt?
Yes, I had heard about Bolidt from my cousin Alwin. I talked to him about a job some time ago and I was keen to work for Bolidt. The work involved in application is a good fit for me. So I applied and here I am.

What was your first impression when you came to Bolidt?
What struck me the most about Bolidt were the long hours that people in Application work. But also the number of consecutive hours without eating or drinking anything. I've become used to it now.

Bolidt Cedri Passial

Which person at Bolidt has amazed you the most so far?
Alwin. He is my cousin, almost like a brother, so I know him well. But the family tie does not exist here. Here, Alwin is strict. I hadn't seen that side of him before.

Bolidt is an energetic company. How energetic are you?
At Bolidt you automatically become more energetic. I've discovered muscles I never knew I had. Working in application really makes you strong!

What are you most proud of?
I am proud of this job. It gave me the opportunity to see many things and companies that I never thought I would get to see or know.

If colleagues really want to get something done from you, what can they 'bribe' you with?
I cannot be bribed.

Is there anything else that your colleagues should know about you?
That I don’t know everything yet. Everyone acts as if I have been around here for 10 years and expects me to already know everything.

Bas Faaij

salesmanager bakkeries and sweets

We all know by now that Bas Faaij is a fit young man. Just a few weeks after joining Bolidt he was persuaded to become a member of Bolidt’s swimming team and participated in the Swim to Fight Cancer. An impressive achievement for someone who is not a long-distance swimmer. Bas is one of the new hires in International Construction and responsible for the Bakery and Sweets segment.

Were you familiar with Bolidt before you started working for Bolidt?
I wasn't familiar with Bolidt at first, but when I looked into the company and heard the BNR radio item about the kart track on a cruise ship, I immediately felt that Bolidt had to be a special company.

What was your first impression when you came to Bolidt?
My first impression was this was not your run-of-the-mill company, and that immediately appealed to me! During my induction programme, I witnessed an immense drive across all departments within the company. I also noticed that there is a wealth of knowledge and experience to be found throughout the company. Application also took me along on a job, where I was given the opportunity to apply some of the flooring compound myself. That has been a huge benefit to me, as it has given me a much better idea of what is involved in creating a beautiful floor!

Bolidt Bas Faaij

Which person at Bolidt has amazed you the most so far?
What has particularly surprised me in a positive way, is what we as colleagues at Bolidt are collectively capable of. I have seen examples of amazing projects, throughout the world. At the end of the day, every department has played a role in bringing those projects about.

Bolidt is an energetic company. How energetic are you?
I recently swam 1 km in open water for the #swimtofightcancer charity with Bolidt, so I’m energetic enough I suppose!

What are you most proud of?
I lived in Colombia for 1.5 years and have many great memories of my time there!

If colleagues really want to get something done from you, what can they 'bribe' you with?
Liquorice!

Is there anything else that your colleagues should know about you?
I am fluent in Spanish, which may prove useful for Bolidt at some point!

Elisa Pilkes

Operations assistent

Elisa Pilkes followed in her sister Sophie’s footsteps a few months ago and, just like her sister, she now works in Bolidt’s Operations. As an Operation Assistant, she provides the foremen with any support they may need, together with the other assistants. Elisa says she feels right at home in this department.

Were you familiar with Bolidt before you started working for Bolidt?
I certainly was familiar with Bolidt. As almost everybody knows, my younger sister Sophie Hage-Pilkes (I just call her Soppie) also works here and she had always been telling positive stories about her work. Besides Sophie, Lisa Nuninga has been a good friend of mine for years, so I had also heard a lot of nice things through her. Additionally, there are a number of other people I already knew before I joined and that made me feel slightly less of a newbie at the beginning. I always used to recognise Bolidt by the orange and black vans, and any seasoned Alblasserdammer is familiar with Bolidt’s synthetic flooring.

Bolidt Elisa Pilkes

What was your first impression when you came to Bolidt?
The first thing I thought was: everything looks so smart and sleek, how bizarre that I may be allowed to come and work here.

Which person at Bolidt has amazed you the most so far?
That is a difficult question. I have not been around long enough to answer that I, think. Sorry about the boring answer.

Bolidt is an energetic company. How energetic are you?
Oops, next question ;-) Up until I was sixteen, I used to play tennis a lot, but as I went through puberty, my priorities shifted. Now that I have moved back to Alblasserdam, after having lived in Rotterdam for a long time, I want to pick up tennis again.

What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the way my life is now, and that I am apparently grown up enough to have my own house, car and pet. I can now invite my parents over for coffee, which feels a bit odd, but it also gives me a sense of pride.

If colleagues really want to get something done from you, what can they 'bribe' you with?
Oh that’s very easy; I'm like a child in that respect, so if you promise to get me a bag of chips or my favourite boiled sweet, I will do (almost) anything.

Is there anything else that your colleagues should know about you?
I don’t think so, but if there is something you would like to know, just ask!

Thomas Ravensbergen

R&D technician

Thomas Ravensbergen recently started working in the laboratory as a R&D technician. He is responsible for improving existing formulas and developing new ones.

Were you familiar with Bolidt before you started working for Bolidt?
Before I started working here, I was not familiar with Bolidt.

What was your first impression when you came to Bolidt?
What struck me the first time I came here, was the exceptionally warm atmosphere and that is also one of the most important reasons why I wanted to work here.

Bolidt Thomas Ravensburgen

Which person at Bolidt has amazed you the most so far?
There isn’t one specific person who amazed me the most, it rather was the friendly atmosphere – I could even call it a family atmosphere – that positively surprised me.

Bolidt is an energetic company. How energetic are you?
I have a major sweet tooth and I’m not big on sports, but I do feel very fit!

What are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of the fact that I managed to successfully complete my third level degree, despite being dyslexic.

If colleagues really want to get something done from you, what can they 'bribe' you with?
I don’t need to be bribed to help someone. And when I’ve helped someone, a simple “thank you” will do just fine. But if people insist on giving me something, a good Viennese Schnitzel is always welcome.

Is there anything else that your colleagues should know about you?
I’m a huge fan of board and card games. The more complicated the better! For instance: Mansion of Madness and Force of Will.

Phebe van Stekelenburg

purchasing intern

Phebe van Stekelenburg is probably the youngest new face in the office. She was born on 21 October 1996 and has, in her own words, “been in love with the same boy for far too long”. You may run into Phebe in the Purchasing department where during her internship she will focus on supply chain management. Would you like to know more? Just go over and ask!

Were you familiar with Bolidt before you started working for Bolidt?
Well, I knew that Bolidt sells flooring, but that was about it.

What was your first impression when you came to Bolidt?
That I was confused about finding myself in the ‘Brasserie’ when I came in and not at a reception desk.

Bolidt Phebe van Steekelenburg

Which person at Bolidt has amazed you the most so far?
Coen, because he chews on the same piece of chewing gum for an entire day.

Bolidt is an energetic company. How energetic are you?
I hope I can safely say that I’m still very energetic, at 20. I love playing handball and hope that I’ll will be able to continue playing for a long time.

What are you most proud of?
That at the moment I’m able to combine all the things that I enjoy doing.

If colleagues really want to get something done from you, what can they 'bribe' you with?
Something to eat will always go a long way, I have an absolute soft spot for anything yummy.

Is there anything else that your colleagues should know about you?
What my colleagues should know is that I enjoyed the way I was welcomed in the past week, that I am really looking forward to the time ahead and that if they have something nice to eat they need to get rid of, I will gladly accept it.

Sietze Hamstra

SALES MANAGER bubo

Sietze was born in 1983 and lives in Hilversum together with his girlfriend Maartje and their 1-year-old daughter Nina. Sietze recently joined the International Construction team and will, in due course, fly all over the world. His daily activities? Anything focused on sales!

Were you familiar with Bolidt before you started working for Bolidt?
No, I was not familiar with Bolidt before I started working here.

What was your first impression when you came to Bolidt?
Wow!

Bolidt Sietze Hamstra

Which person at Bolidt has amazed you the most so far?
I have so far been amazed the most by everybody at Bolidt. I have noticed that, whichever department you go to, everyone has only one goal and that is success. A lot of hard work goes into achieving it!

Bolidt is an energetic company. How energetic are you?
I cannot remember the last time I was ill. Putting in the kilometres on my racing bike keeps me fit and gives me all the energy I need.

What are you most proud of?
Of my daughter.

If colleagues really want to get something done from you, what can they 'bribe' you with?
Er, with keeping me out of the wind for a few km. Or, for the non-cyclists: a double espresso ;)

Is there anything else that your colleagues should know about you?
I can't think of anything particular right now, but you're welcome to ask me anything you like!

Meenakshi Bhola

Sales assistant bakeries and sweets

A new face hat has been around for a while now is that of Meenakshi Bhola. Meenakshi works as a Sales Assistant in the International Construction department and is responsible for the Bakery and Confectionery segment together with Bas Faaij. Meenakshi can tell you all about this segment by now! Oh yes, Meenakshi is 31 years old and married.

Were you familiar with Bolidt before you started working for Bolidt?
No

What was your first impression when you came to Bolidt?
Wow, so much space and such a beautiful interior.

Bolidt Meenakshi Bhola

Not so much one person, but all employees at Bolidt. Dedicated and passionate.

Bolidt is an energetic company. How energetic are you?
Very energetic. Healthy, Active and Fit!

What are you most proud of?
Work-life balance. There are aspects in both my personal and professional life that I am proud of.

If colleagues really want to get something done from you, what can they 'bribe' you with?
It’s not so easy to bribe me, but I do like sweets.

Is there anything else that your colleagues should know about you?
No…

Sander Nobel

SALES EXECUTIVE biBo

Sander Nobel started work this summer as an Internal Sales Executive in our Domestic Construction department. This football trainer and father of 2 boys is jointly responsible for sales in the Dutch market.

Were you familiar with Bolidt before you started working for Bolidt?
I mainly knew Bolidt from the big Mercedes Sprinter taking up 2 parking spaces on my parents' street. And of course from the Inner Circle Run. Going back further, I remember the Bolidt flooring in the Rabobank branch that I used to work in, with a variety of coins incorporated into the floor.

What was your first impression when you came to Bolidt?
That’s strange, no reception desk. A fine company, attractive powerful design and has a lot to offer.

Bolidt Sander Nobel

Which person at Bolidt has amazed you the most so far?
The men in Application. I went along on a project for a week with Wilfred Goethart and Tony Gamble. It was good to see the realities on the ground and how much experience they have. And everything they do for Bolidt/Ode to achieve the best results, in sometimes challenging on-site conditions that we are not always aware of. I gained a great deal of knowledge that week, which helps me in my job at the office.

Bolidt is an energetic company. How energetic are you?
In order to stay healthy, energetic and motivated it is important to be active. I stopped playing football myself to be active with my kids. It motivates me and gives me energy. That is why the step to join Bolidt has enabled me to achieve two things. A new employer that gives me more energy and fresh motivation, and I have the time again to train a football team and thus spend time with them. A win-win. I also enjoy and get satisfaction from giving the team that I train little pointers and seeing them grow as a result.

What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of my family. That is why I spend a lot of time with them and we enjoy doing fun things together.

If colleagues really want to get something done from you, what can they 'bribe' you with?
There’s no need to bribe me, asking nicely also helps. Having said that, a bag of sweets can make all the difference.

Is there anything else that your colleagues should know about you?
No, not really. If colleagues would like to know things about me, they can always ask.

Bolidt Thomas de Beer
