    Meet our new staff!

What's new?!

Time for a new round of introductions!

Time for a new round of introductions! In the last six months, Laura, Barry, Gabriela and Romée have stepped into the world of Bolidt. And Carolina is the latest addition to our Miami office. They are happy to introduce themselves to you!

Laura Healey

Safety Officer

Laura Healey (yes, daughter and sister of) first started working at Bolidt as part of a graduation project for her degree in safety management. This involved carrying out an assignment together with Edwin Verhees and Pascal van Waes related to an on-site risk assessment (RIE) of a typical application process. After completing her course, Laura joined Bolidt in her current role.

High time to get to know Laura a little better!

Bolidt Laura Healey

Can you tell us about your day-to-day work?
Since 1 January 2018, I have been working with Edwin in the lab, supporting all Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ for short) related activities within Bolidt. This includes helping Pascal and all the different departments to map the internal processes. The results are used for our ISO quality management system. For the Operations department, I analyse the action points that arise from the on-site inspections and I conduct safety inspections at Production, thus identifying different types of risks we encounter in our daily operations.

Were you familiar with Bolidt before you started working for Bolidt?
Through my dad, Bolidt has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.

Which person at Bolidt has amazed you the most so far?
The lab team has surprised me the most so far. They are working hard to ensure that the team is ready for the move to the Innovation Centre. It is a department that is truly changing and from the day I started here I was welcomed into the team. I feel very much at ease and really enjoy working here.

Bolidt is an energetic company. How energetic are you?
I am not erg very sporty, but I like taking my boxer Ginny for a walk along the river Maas.

What are you most proud of (personally or professionally)?
My daughter Lily of 1.5 years old.

If colleagues really want to get something done from you, what can they 'bribe' you with?
I can always be bribed with chocolate and a nice cappuccino.

Barry de Jong

Logistics Coordinator

Barry has been working in Bolidt’s Logistics department since 1 November. Together with Ellen and Michel, he makes sure that materials, consumables and tools are there when they are needed, at project sites around the world. It is fair to say that he plays a crucial role in Bolidt’s projects, as no floor can be installed without materials.

Let's find out a bit more about Barry!

Bolidt Barry de Jong

Were you familiar with Bolidt before you started working for Bolidt?
Yes, I knew of Bolidt through friends and acquaintances who used to work here, but only by name really.

What was your first impression when you came to Bolidt?
It all looks very stylish and professional.

Bolidt is an energetic company. How energetic are you?
I have been playing football on Thursdays and Saturdays for 24 years. And last September I also started doing fitness twice a week.

If colleagues really want to get something done from you, what can they 'bribe' you with?
No need for bribes! I am happy to help!

Is there anything else that your colleagues should know about you?
That I play darts. This season, I am playing at competition level for the first time.

Carolina Castro

operations assistant

Carolina Castro is the latest addition to BCC. Carolina is married and, by her own account, still in love with her husband. She was not familiar with Bolidt before she joined, but Carolina now feels completely at home.

Time to meet Carolina!

Can you tell us about your day-to-day work?
Ufff! My day to day is a little crazy. Cruise lines changes its mind a lot and for now I am in charge to put our team at the correct place at correct time always.

What was your first impression when you came to Bolidt?
I saw a very futuristic company

Which person at Bolidt has amazed you the most so far?
The entire BCC team. They feel like family.

Bolidt is an energetic company. How energetic are you?
I am energetic enough to be part of Bolidt ;-).

What are you most proud of?
I am proud of having left the comfort zone of my home country to broaden my horizons in a country that is totally different from my own.

If colleagues really want to get something done from you, what can they 'bribe' you with?
Well well….. Just being nice is enough for me. A big smile works wonders!

Is there anything else that your colleagues should know about you?
I love to see everyone around me happy. That is the main reason why I do this job.

Romée van der Veen

Marketing Executive

Romée van der Veen is the youngest member of our Marketing team. In addition to studying for a degree in International Communication & Media at Erasmus University (which is taught entirely in English) Romée supports the Marketing department.

Bolidt Romee van der Veen

What is your role at Bolidt? Can you tell us about your day-to-day work?
My role at Bolidt is very varied. I was initially hired, and no, not as a trainee, properly hired ;), to support Anouk in her trade fair related tasks. I help her with those, where necessary, and spend a lot of time in the archives to gather as much material for the fairs as possible. Additionally, I keep the trade fair calendar up to date, plan trade fair participations and publish newly announced fairs on the Bolidt website. A very different side of my role at Bolidt is that I have made a start with setting up business vlogging. I go to trade shows and events attended or organised by Bolidt, such as the Batibouw fair and The Annual Young Designer Getaway, to capture these occasions in vlogs. I do interviews, have interesting chats and shoot some atmospheric footage. All in all, a wonderful mix of parading in front of the camera and catching my breath while scouring the archives.

Were you familiar with Bolidt before you started working for Bolidt?
Ironically, I have known Bolidt for longer than I can even remember. From the moment my sister was born (1.5 years before me), my parents were active in the Round Table, as were the Bols, the Van der Speks among other families, and Bolidt came up regularly in this context. Bolidt quickly became a familiar name during my many hours of playing hockey at HC Derby as well. A special company that already attracted my attention back then, even though at the time it was just because of the way the office building looked and now it is because of the company itself.

What was your first impression when you came to Bolidt?
My literal first step in the Bolidt office was not on my first working day. That was 2 years earlier when I was allowed to take pictures in the building for my Instagram @fromromee on a Saturday afternoon. A strenuous afternoon of me standing on the cupboards next to the desks and shooting no less than ten different outfits in various corners of the office. I would never have guessed that I would take that literal first step into Bolidt once more in the role of a real employee. An utterly cool step that I think of every time I walk up the stairs on my way to work and am deeply grateful for.

Which person at Bolidt has amazed you the most so far?
Within Bolidt, ‘the Bolidt person’ has amazed me the most. At the end of the day, I am still a slightly uber-enthusiastic, now 19-year-old, direct and creative person who, with many ideas, tends to get ahead of herself, but despite that I was welcomed so unbelievably generously and kindly into the Bolidt team. Love for the patience and the people in Marketing, particularly Michel & Anouk (they are my line managers after all), and the people who sat down next to me during my lunch break when I did not know anyone yet. Bolidt has every reason to be proud of this group of hard-working people who go to work every single day with a heart for Bolidt and innovatively set about their daily tasks with the shared goal of realising the Bolidt Dream; that is what has amazed me the most.

Bolidt is an energetic company. How energetic are you?
I used to be very energetic. From when I was eight, I performed in mostly national musicals produced by companies including Joop van den Ende Theatre Productions and Albert Verlinde’s V&V Entertainment. And after having played hockey three times a week for ten years at HC Derby I swapped my orange sportswear for an orange Basic-Fit card, which due to my busy student life and liquid bread is gathering dust in the cupboard. I do want to take up sport again, though, maybe Bolidt could use someone?

What are you most proud of?
This is a difficult question to answer, because I am not easily satisfied and/or proud of something due to my perfectionist and progressive nature. Maybe that is something I am actually proud of. The fact that when I put my mind to something, the chances are close to 100% that it will succeed. As it happens, I was just talking to Thomas, a colleague in marketing who makes really good coffee, about the definition of self-confidence. Looking back on what I have achieved in the past few years, I can now say that I am self-confident. Not being afraid to dream and to turn these dreams into reality. Which also just happens to be Bolidt’s motto: no limits.

If colleagues really want to get something done from you, what can they 'bribe' you with?
A Zara gift card and/or the truffle risotto from Parmesan on Veerplein.

Is there anything else that your colleagues should know about you?
I am very active on Instagram (@fromromee), love singing and study International Communication & Media at Erasmus University. My favourite travel destination is Cape Town and in ten years’ time I hope to be successful in that one thing I’m passionate about.

Gabriella Cretella

bubo executive

Gabriella Cretella is supporting the Bubo-team. She is an dministrative support for the ladies at BUBO.

Are you in love/engaged/married? Or maybe still on the singles' market?
None of those really.. ;-)
I do live together with Vincent and we have a very cool and handsome 5-year-old son called Vince.

What was your first impression when you came to Bolidt?
Such a hip company! And such great coffee!

Bolidt Gabriella Cretella

Bolidt is an energetic company. How energetic are you?
I do cardio boxing three times a week and in June I will participate in the Strong Viking Obstacle Run for the first time.

If colleagues really want to get something done from you, what can they 'bribe' you with?
Food, I love nice food!

Stefan Holster

project manager

Our new colleague Stefan will mostly be working at the Meyer Werft. As a project manager, he is responsible for Bolidt’s activities at this shipyard.

If you want to find out more about Stefan, be sure to read on.

Stefan, tell us something about yourself!
I was born on 2 October in Dronten, Zuidelijke IJsselmeerpolders, now part of the province of Flevoland, but due to my parents’ work we soon moved to Dalfsen, a village close to Zwolle, where I basically grew up.

Bolidt Stefan Holster

After completing my education, which was mainly in Zwolle, I did my compulsory military service in the Royal Dutch Navy and then decided to sign up. During my 10 years in the Navy, I was able to see a good bit of the world and experienced a great deal. My career in the off-shore industry started with French energy company Total, then I worked for Canadian firms Petro-Canada and Suncor and finally for UK-based Dana Petroleum, first on the North Sea and for the last few years in Egypt.

I am a proud father of a 13-year-old daughter, Dani, and an 11-year-old son called Niek. Even though they are both very sporty and active in football, they cannot live without the PS and their phones of course. We live in Bad Nieuweschans, not far from the German border in the east of the province of Groningen, which is best known for the Fontana spa resort. I like to keep fit myself as well and push the boundaries of my abilities.

Were you familiar with Bolidt before you started working for Bolidt?
I knew Bolidt from the high-quality synthetic flooring on ships primarily and from the industrial flooring, but was surprised about the many other applications there are.

What was your first impression when you came to Bolidt?
The office has an Apple-like feel to it, which really appealed to me.

Bolidt is an energetic company. How energetic are you?
Just like my children, I am a sports person with a winner's mentality. I naturally spend most of my free time with my kids, in many different ways, be it doing homework or sports, going for a nice cycle ride, inline skating or just walking the dog. Until recently, I was active for years as a volunteer for the local football club as a trainer/coach of both my kids’ football teams. Now I try and watch quietly from the sidelines, which can be challenging at times ;-)

If colleagues really want to get something done from you, what can they 'bribe' you with?
I cannot really be bribed of course and even though a cold beer or a ‘frikandel speciaal’ (a deep-fried mince sausage with chopped onions, mayonnaise and curry ketchup) will generally be appreciated and work wonders, this does not necessarily mean that I will change my mind ;-)
