Meat and fish industry

Butchers. Chicken, beef, lamb. Boning, meat processing. Sausages. Fish market, auction, market halls. Smokehouse. Eel, mackerel. Pickled herring. The corrosive effects of salts, acids. Crates, trays full of ice, continuously wet. Cold stores and freezing chambers. Antiskid flooring. Easy to clean. Fat, blood, faeces. Hygiene. Floors without cracks, totally smooth. No pores. Skidproof, resistant to mechanical stress. A finish that neither absorbs nor lets through any moisture. HACCP.

HACCP: food and hygiene; two halves of a whole. The requirements for maintenance: the use of high-pressure spray-guns, cleaning agents, in short anything required to get the floor clean and keep it clean is important. Hygiene also has to be seen in relation to safety, certainly in the meat and fish processing industry where part of the work is still done manually as in the case of boning, filleting and slicing.

Floors have specific functions in each stage of meat processing. During unloading and distribution to the waiting area, on the slaughter platforms, in the cutting room, when carving hams or fine cutlets, in the sausage-making room or the cold meats section, in and around the cold storage rooms, in the cutting room where, at tables, the residual products are divided into containers and transported by conveyor belt. For this purpose Bolidt has seamless, strong and anti-slip floors. During preservation, when acids, salts and flavourings are added, Bolidtop synthetic floors are resistant. In the packaging departments and in the dispatch areas, where forklift trucks are driven and pallets are pushed around, Bolidtop floors are wear-resistant. Bolidtop floors are sturdy, wear-resistant, anti-slip and well resistant to mechanical loads. Because acids and salts are used, the Bolidt synthetic floors also have to meet requirements such as impermeability, pore density and resistance to chemicals.

For every question, a specific floor solution.

(Soft) drinks industry

Soft drinks, alcohol. Bottling plants. Internal transport: forklift trucks with cases full of (soft) drinks. Always accompanied by the chance of breakages. Glass. Splinters. Danger of skidding. Antiskid flooring. Resistant to acids, glucoses, vitamins. Transport by conveyer belt or rolling stock. Carts or crates. Internal transport over even floors. Dispatch areas from where wholesalers are supplied. And also hotels, restaurants, pubs. Working to capacity and against the clock, thus efficiency is essential. HACCP.

Because the ‘wet’food industry is a broad concept; all sorts of soft drinks and fruit juices, spirits, liquors, wine and beer, in short, everything which eventually fulls the consumers’ glasses. In production areas the Bolidtop floors are resistant to sugars, acids, glucose, flavourings, … all additives. The Bolidtop floor is resistant to broken glass and it is impermeable to liquids. The anti-slip grip of the floor is geared to its use. Walking on it with boots, intensive loads from forklift trucks and pallets, it is slip-resistant where necessary.

The floors are naturally impermeable (to liquids) and do not absorb moisture. Drains, gutters and grids are perfectly sealed off all around, skirting boards are incorporated seamlessly into the floor. Dirt and bacteria have no chance to take hold. This is also in connection with the HACCP management. The production area makes other demands on the floor finish than the labelling department, the packaging department, the returned goods department and the dispatch department.Seamless floors on which forklift trucks can turn and brake. The load on the floor is extremely diverse; transport via the conveyor belt or via rolling equipment on wear-resistant and low-maintenance floors; use of packaging such as the PET bottle, which has made transport (the crate) less vulnerable and lighter. Crates being pushed along, the floor that is used as ‘conveyor belt’. This requires floors that can withstand rough treatment, have a long life span and require virtually no maintenance.

For every question, a specific floor solution.

(Industrial) Catering

Suppliers of the catering industry: butchers, bakers, off-licences, greengrocers and still many more. Caterers who offer any thinkable style of cuisine. Catering for which quality and class are of special importance. Caterers who supply food that has to travel by air; snacks, breakfast and dinner on the plane. Industrial catering. Company restaurants where hygiene and character have to go hand in hand. HACCP. Just as there are kitchens (and cooks) in all shapes and sizes, there is a menu when it comes to synthetic flooring.

All-round caterers or specialists, catering in company restaurants, from factories to hospitals and care institutes, supplying meals for air passengers, or commercial kitchens connected to refectories and canteens. In catering and commercial kitchens it involves floor finishes providing the correct balance between the requirements for use, safety and hygiene, geared to the HACCP management. Large-scale preparation of meals means working with widely divergent raw materials and preparation processes.

The floor finish plays an important part in this logistic process. The floor finish has to be impermeable, must not absorb moisture or allow it to penetrate. Attention to detail: drains, gutters and grids are sealed off perfectly all around, skirting boards are incorporated into the floor seamlessly. Catering is logistics, the Bolidtop floors are designed for this. In the (commercial) kitchens of company restaurants and factory canteens, anything can end up on the floor, and it has to be easy to remove. In addition, employees often come into canteens wearing safety shoes. In company restaurants hygiene and atmosphere are strongly related, not only because the employees eat there, but because visitors are held in them. For these locations Bolidt has developed a floor with unlimited possibilities. This floor, the Bolidtop Sensation, enables maximum advantage of the atmosphere to be taken as far as colour and designs are concerned.

Bakeries / sweets

The bread factory, conveyer oven bakeries, the oven, with the floor as the centre of logistics. Dough mixers, floor sheets to narrow the differences in temperature. The fresh bakeries. Traditional, where pastries are still made by hand and the baker bakes fresh rolls at four in the morning. Flour, grain. Sugars, glucose, cocoa butter, cream. Big or small; every baker his own working space, his own kitchen, his own flooring.

Flour, grain, animal and vegetable fats, lactic acid, whipped cream, almond pasta, cocoa butter they all affect on the floor. The companies in the bakeries/sweets sector represent a wide range of products. Cornflakes and crackers, instant food, rusks and toast, crisps, snacks and mini toasts, milk powders, pudding, soup, herbs, spices, chocolate, liquorice and sweets.

Oils, fats and syrups have to be taken into account. These soon make a floor slippery. Sugar attacks the concrete. The floor finish must not absorb moisture nor allow it to penetrate; it has to be impermeable. Drains, gutters and grid must be perfectly sealed off all around. Skirting boards incorporated 'seamlessly' into the floor. The manufactures using traditional methods have their own specific requirements where floors are concerned. Less automation, lighter equipment, different products. No conveyor belts, more manual work. They have the same requirements as far as safety and hygiene are concerned. Non-slip floors, seamless, low-maintenance, durable. Floor finishes that comply with most stringent requirements within the food industry, taking into account the standards of the authorities who monitor hygiene, safety and quality, anticipating the HACCP management.

For every question, a specific floor solution.

Dairy industry

The dairy industry stands for more than just butter, cheese and … eggnog. Warehouses full of eggs. Yoghurt. Milk, ice-cream and cheese products. A damp environment, boots a must. Antiskid flooring. Work safely. Forklift trucks, busy internal transport. Lactic acids, spillages: flooring that neither absorbs nor lets through any moisture. Cleaning often means hosing, HACCP. Drains and grids with perfectly sealed joints. Skirting put up seamlessly from the floor. Dairy involves continuous research. Low-fat margarines. Low-calorie products.

Expert knowledge of flooring materials and their application brings Bolidt into contact with:

Danone
Yakult
Friesland Coberco
Becel

Bolidt gears its floors to more than just butter, cheese and eggs. Milk and ice cream, derivative products such as yogurt, custard, eggnog. Divisions of the food industry in which requirements for use such as safety and hygiene also play an important part in the HACCP management this. In production areas the Bolidtop floors are resistant to fats, creams, lactic acids, sugars, fruit juices, proteins, carbohydrates, colouring agents… all kind of additives. It goes without saying that in this "wet" industry the floor finish has to be resistant to chemicals, impermeable and pore-tight.

The finish must not absorb moisture or allow it to penetrate; drains, gutters and grids are perfectly sealed off all around, skirting boards are incorporated seamlessly into the floor. The production area requires a different floor from the area in which automated processes such as filling and packaging take place. The load on the floor can vary immensely; transport can be via the conveyor belt or via rolling equipment on level floors. The advent of new type of packaging has an effect on the transport. It requires floors that can withstand rough treatment, have a long life span and require virtually no maintenance, just as in dispatch areas. Working quickly and accurately on floors designed specifically for their function. Seamless, sturdy, durable, impermeable, low maintenance. Internal transport with forklift trucks that brake and turn frequently requires level floors.

For every question, a specific floor solution.
